*Regulatory Alert* Homeland Security Regulation Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards
On April 9, 2007, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (or the CFATS) as an interim final rule. This rule applies to a broad range of facilities considered to be high risk chemical facilities. Potentially included are educational institutions, medical facilities, manufacturing plants, mines and quarries, chemical producers, power plants, laboratories, and commercial facilities.

Chemical Spill Cost Recovery News in Connecticut
Hartford Business Journal July 23, 2007 www.hartfordbusiness.com reported findings from documents obtained by state auditors indicating Connecticut's Department of Environmental Protection cost recovery unit has been unable to collect more than $4.5 million in unpaid cleanup costs. The non-reimbursed costs were incurred by DEP during the fiscal years 2004 and 2005. Despite the past due payments from companies which the DEP has pursued, the auditors praised the current DEP efforts and suggested DEP should tighten up their cost recovery procedures.

AirLogics, which is now totally owned by GZA, has been busy. Recent awards amount to more than $400,000 with the largest recent award for perimeter air monitoring for Sevenson Environmental Service at the Starlight Park in the Bronx, NY. PIC is Adam Fasano. Raytheon Company continues to be one of our top clients. GZA just received new assignments totaling more than $800,000 for 2007 for our continuing remedial efforts.
