GZA provides comprehensive asbestos and hazardous building materials management services to a wide variety of client types throughout the United States. GZA staff, trained and licensed in numerous states, is actively involved in assisting clients in managing asbestos, lead paint, and other hazardous building materials (e.g., PCB and mercury lighting, mercury thermostats, PCB transformers and capacitors, lead-acid batteries, refrigerants, etc.) in conjunction with real estate transactions, building renovation/demolition projects, facility closures, site redevelopment projects, and ongoing risk management activities in occupied facilities.
The following types of services are provided to our clients:
Building/Facility Evaluations
A building evaluation, or survey, is conducted to identify, categorize, quantify and evaluate the existing condition of asbestos-containing materials (ACM) and other hazardous building materials.
Project Design Specifications
For projects that will involve building renovation or demolition activities, a design specification will be developed to communicate the scope of work associated with the planned renovation/demolition, and to solicit bids for asbestos abatement services.
Abatement Management/Monitoring
Trained and licensed personnel provide the management and monitoring of asbestos and hazardous materials abatement projects for compliance with the design specifications and applicable regulations.
Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Plans
For those buildings where renovation/demolition activities are not planned, an O&M plan, is prepared to manage ACM in-place. An O&M plan is designed to prevent inadvertent disturbance of ACM, and provide action plans for routine maintenance activities and emergency response situations. These objectives are accomplished by the implementation of periodic inspections, ACM warning labels, notifications, routine and emergency response repair methods, employee training and record-keeping.
