| Phase I and II Site Assessments |
GZA has completed more than ten thousand site assessments in the US and Canada. Our Phase II services range from site due diligence projects supporting real estate transfer, to complex investigations at uncontrolled hazardous waste release sites. Our staff participates in an aggressive internal technical training program that maintains GZA’s prominence as a preeminent geotechnical and environmental consulting firm. We approach our projects using “tried and true” exploratory techniques as well as the most recent or emerging technologies.
GZA’s Phase II Site Investigation approach is to develop an investigation program that is tailored to the data collection needs of each project. The data collection program is developed based upon the complexity of the site, risk management concerns, final redevelopment plans and cost. Ultimately, our approach is to provide the most benefit to the environmental decision making process for the least cost. Site data collection involves gathering information on the chemical and physical nature of site contaminants, the distribution of contamination and migration pathways, and site hydrogeologic data to build a conceptual site model. GZA utilizes various approaches to evaluate and present the data including GIS, and computer simulations of groundwater flow, and contaminant fate and transport. The Phase II Site Investigation information is used to satisfy due diligence obligations as a component of property ownership transfer, or be used in subsequent risk assessment or remedial engineering.
GZA maintains a high level of communication between our Project Manager and the client contact throughout the Phase II project which allows each specific project to be redirected as a greater understanding of site conditions is developed. The flexibility and openness with our project approach leads to project performance that develops the necessary understanding of site conditions in a cost effective manner.
