Communicating and depicting the visual impact of any proposed facility is an important criterion in determining the acceptance of a new facility by regulators and the community. GZA provides clients with comprehensive professional services to evaluate visual impacts. GZA performs viewshed analyses and digital photographic simulations in order to determine from which locations a proposed facility can be viewed and by whom. The effects of topography, foliage and other features are considered when determining the visibility of the facility. Our analyses provide a visual comparison of the appearance of a proposed site before and after construction. In addition to viewshed and digital photographic analyses, we routinely evaluate visible plume length, fogging, icing, and deposition on surfaces resulting from climate conditions and water vapor emissions from cooling towers. With the use of a computer model, GZA has the ability to study cooling tower impacts on sensitive surfaces such as highways, airport runways, and power lines.
