Environmental Chemistry Analysis

GZA's Environmental Chemistry Laboratory (ECL), established in the early 1980’s, enables clients to fully characterize environmental samples via a wide range of organic and inorganic analyses. Our state-of-the-art instrumentation and knowledgeable staff provide high quality analytical data, while our quick throughput capability lets project managers meet tight deadlines.

Some of the analyses the ECL performs include: Volatile and Semi-Volatile Organic Compounds by GC/MS, PCBs and Organo-chlorine Pesticides by GC, Formaldehyde by HPLC, Anions by Ion Chromatography (IC), Mercury by Cold Vapor Atomic Absorption, and Trace Metals Analysis by Graphite Furnace and Inductively Coupled Plasma. In addition, the laboratory has particular expertise in analysis of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons, including "fingerprinting" or petroleum identification and analyses by the MADEP Risk-based EPH and VPH methods.
Our laboratory is certified by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection as well as many other state agencies throughout New England and the United States and is accredited by NELAC.

The ECL provides LSP’s, LEP’s and other environmental professionals with data reports which meet or exceed MADEP requirements, Ct Reasonable Confidence Protocols and other regulatory required formats. We also report data in a variety of electronic formats (Electronic Data Deliverables, or EDDs), which enable project managers to quickly and efficiently integrate laboratory data with their projects
