GZA continues to have a strong presence and proven reputation as a leader in geotechnical and environmental engineering.   For 40 years, GZA has been providing full scope engineering services serving government agencies, contractors, engineers, and architects.  We have completed a wide variety of public works projects including drainage and flood control structures, dam safety investigation and repairs, and tunnels. Constructed facilities for municipal and utility infrastructure are a key component of our success, and GZA has executed numerous projects for The Hartford Metropolitan District Commission, Aquarion Water Company of Connecticut, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation, NRCS, and the City of New York – Dept. of Environmental Protection. 

Hydrologic and hydraulic analyses are the foundation of GZA's water resources expertise.  The development of the personal computer and compatible engineering software has provided engineering consultants with a valuable tool in modeling hydrologic processes and in designing hydraulic structures.  Our personnel have the training and hands-on experience to conduct surface water analysis and design of hydraulic structures, ranging from small stormwater drainage systems to dam spillway and release chambers.  This includes rainfall/runoff evaluation of specific flooding events, as well as continuous (time series) hydrograph simulations. Our hydraulic engineers are well versed in evaluating steady as well as unsteady flow conditions for both open channel and pressure (i.e. pipe-flow) conditions.
 
In addition, GZA hydrologists and water resources scientists have the practical experience and academic training to apply statistical methods to characterize stream flow in a watershed.  Our abilities include: (a) water budget and inflow / outflow analyses to predict changes in seasonal stream flows under varying climate conditions and/or water resources development scenarios

GZA’s long-standing capabilities in water resource sciences and management combined with our geo-civil engineering experience are perfectly suited for designing an effective stormwater control, streambank stabilization, and bridge repair programs.  We have taken our traditional expertise and have successfully adapted our multi-disciplinary capabilities to meet the changing environmental challenges of the new millennium.
